Sport Cornwall Collection at the Cornish Pirates

The ‘Sport Cornwall Foundation’, (SCF)  a CHARITABLE  INTEREST ORGANISATION trust formed by the partners of the Stadium for Cornwall partners: Cornish Pirates, Truro and Penwith College and Truro City football Club.

The Sport Cornwall Foundation Objectives are:

•To promote community participation in healthy and wellbeing recreation by providing facilities for the playing of sports capable of improving health and well being in the county of Cornwall.

•To help, provide and assist in providing facilities for sport, recreation and other leisure occupation of people who have the need for such facilities by reason of their age, disability, social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving their lifestyle.

•To help and educate through sport, recreation, and leisure time activities and to develop character, physical, mental and spiritual capacities. To make an impact on health and wellbeing within the whole county of Cornwall for ONE AND ALL

Sport Cornwall Foundation Trustees:

Derek Thomas MP: Derek Thomas was first elected as the Member of Parliament for the constituency of West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (St Ives) in the 2015 General Election, becoming the first Conservative MP for the area since 1997. He was re-elected as MP in 2019 with an increased majority. 

Matt Bond: As Head of Marketing and Communications at Truro and Penwith College, a key delivery partner in the Stadium for Cornwall, Matt helps to drive the vision and communications delivery of the Foundation. A former journalist, travel writer and newspaper editor, Matt has successfully delivered marketing and communications leadership within diverse and large organisations across a 30-year career.

Natasha Howard: Natasha joined as a Trustee in 2019, bringing 15 years Sports Development experience working for Active Cornwall.  As Community Lead, she supported volunteers, sports clubs and community groups to increase participation in sport and physical activity. Natasha works for Cornwall Council Public Health Service, managing the Healthy Workplace programme by engaging businesses to provide health and wellbeing support for their staff. As Chair of Cornwall Netball Board, Natasha is responsible for overseeing Netball provision in Cornwall working with England Netball to support schools, clubs and social sessions.

Hello my name is Bruce. I was born in Edinburgh but have lived in Cornwall for 20 plus years. I have worked with School of Hard Knocks programmes before and will be part of our delivery team working with the Cornish Pirates. I enjoy all sports but particularly rugby. I enjoy cooking and a good murder mystery.

Project Administrator – Becky Smith

Recently joined the team in September 2021 after leaving a successful self employed driving school business. Previous to that Becky was part of the RAF for 9 years where she played Netball and was a part of the RAF equestrian team. She is married with a young child and is a Cornish girl through and through. Becky has always worked within the IT and administration sector but has enjoyed teaching with her last job.
